I'm not a big gamer, but I have been very pleased with my CTX PV722i. It has a 25ms response time, and as of yet, haven't experienced any ghosting in games. I think it's contrast ratio is 500:1, but I'm not sure, it certainly isn't any lower. Saying that though, I have to run it at half brightness and contrast just so it doesn't blind me. Great colours, an all round great monitor. The thing which drew me to it though, was the price.

the main difference i see between the 19" model and the 17" model is this
    Pixel Pitch (mm) 0.294 (19")
    and .264 (17")
other than that it is the obvious...what do u guys think..which should i go for?

I didn't notice the response time listed on that 191T, might have missed it, but in my experience 25MS response time is perfectly adequate for general gaming. I think UT2003, is probably one of the best games to test a monitor on, because it's obviously very pacey. 15MS response time is for the die hard gamer, but for everyone else, 25MS is fine, which is pretty much the standard now for most intermediate to professional quality monitors. Prime' do you know what the R.T is for that monitor?

Unless you're desperate for the, honestly massive desktop space the 19inch will give you, I think 17inch would be your best bet. I considered getting a 19inch, but considering a 17inch TFT is practically the same size as a 19inch CRT, I made the right choice by just getting the 17inch. I would only recommened getting the 19inch if you do design work, or something like that, which requires lots of screen room.

go for the NEC/Mitsubishi LCD1760V. I just got it to use with UT2003, ET and BF1942. It has a 16ms refresh time. It goes for about $399 at newegg. It has good quality and no ghosting in games. You better have a good vid card tho, since its 1280x1024. It makes other resolutions look remakably good. For example, BF doesn't natively support 1280x1024, it does 1280x960 and it still looks good. It comes in black or silver. Check out the review of it at Toms Hardware. They have a roundup of 16ms and 20ms monitors. Definitly worth a look.
