So, do you make these for kicks? Or are the majority for pay, or what? That looks excellent, btw
This was just for fun. Although in a couple of renders I've done I've stuck in Short-Media pens, magazines, mugs, I tried sneeking in the picture of Profdlp and Snuffie once but it was too obvious. Prime, the smoke is my only problem too, I think I have the geometry right (It being wavy and all) but the materials isn't right.
Yeah, honestly, this was a double-taker. If it wasn't for the smoke, it would've taken me a tad longer to figure out it was a render. Only other thing is the missing keyboard cord (most likely intentional for asthetics) and the keyboard's extremely sharp corners...again, prolly intentional.
I think the smoke should be more transparent, and cover more of the inside of the cup... it should just be a hint of steam, but also as I stated, cover more of the inside of the cup
Looks like you used a wide angle lens on it. Perhaps it is a bit too much of a wide angle. The saucer is elongated which throws off the image a bit.
Okay...the missing letters on the keyboard can be forgiven...that's a real fiddly bit of modelling to do.
the SM home page on the monitor: The right side is good where I can see the edges of the monitor frame but the left side is a little off. It looks as there isn't an inset bevel on the left side. Also...remember there is glass on a monitor so the area where the sun hits the screen will be more washed out than the rest.
Light is a very hard thing to work with as there are so many surfaces to deal with for reflective quality. And once you turn on intense ray tracing...it really slows down the render...REALLY slows it down.
All in all...you are better at it than I could ever be.
As MM said you really gotta look at the left side of the screen, the bevel appears to be there but the light source causes the contrast difference to be like nothing. Its pretty distracting IMHO so you might wanna look at that.
If you wanna leave the steam in I think you need to make the source of the steam funnel wider and give it a little more "body." I think there needs to be more overall volume steamed but with higher transparency. Keep up the good work
Couple of new versions, I took your suggestions. I tried 'dampening' the screen because the light coming on it, but I could only get it to work when the screen was black (like it was off) since the website is mostly white it didn't really do much too it. I added a cord, softened up the left side of the picture slightly, changed the steam a lot. Lowered the intensity of the sunlight. The bevel is still a bit hard to see, but that's because a white material is being hit by an overpowering sun and I don't want to subtract too much sunlight. I also changed the camera distortion as well, I changed it from a 65 FOV to a 50 FOV.

One small criticism: The smoke looks fake, which makes the whole thing look like a render. I bet if you took out the smoke, it would look real.

Other then that, nice...
But add me to the list of admirers of your graphics work.
