Please help: Home Search Assistant with #12802 tag

Hi,

I have been following the instructions in your forum and they have helped but I cannot completely get rid of the home search assistant.

I did miss the part about running spybot killer, but I have done the following. Logged in safe mode, made sure Network Security was disabled, Ran Hijack this, ran adaware, ran HSremove, and everything else I downloaded off this site previously.

It seems to be self replicating, and based in explorer rather than the system 32 folder. (I could be way wrong on that) I moved a couple of files and renamed them. Hasn't hurt anything but hasn't fixed it yet either.

I'm on a different PC or I would post my HJT log. I will run a scan tomorrow and post the log. I've checked properties on almost every DLL and executable in the PC.

Thanks for the tips so far. I can boot normally now so that's a plus!

Again, Thanks for the tips so far. I'll post a log tomorrow. I am really glad I found this forum.

Okay, while in safe mode, delete the following entries:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll/sp.html#12802
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll/sp.html#12802
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://zxzgr.dll/index.html#12802
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = res://zxzgr.dll/index.html#12802
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll/sp.html#12802
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll/sp.html#12802
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll/sp.html#12802
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://zxzgr.dll/index.html#12802
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll/sp.html#12802
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll/sp.html#12802
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5EA09FEA-707B-FB28-AF23-9B7F1EA97C20} - C:\WINNT\mfcwz32.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sdkql.exe] C:\WINNT\sdkql.exe

Then, while still in safe mode, you must manually delete the following files:

    C:\WINNT\SDKQL.EXE
    C:\WINNT\zxzgr.dll
    C:\WINNT\mfcwz32.dll.

When you have manually deleted those files, DO NOT REBOOT THE COMPUTER.

    Pull the plug out instead.

Literally, just yank the power cord out, which is an improper shut down, which you should never do except for now. Then, turn the computer back on.

Then rerun HJT and post the log here.

    Hello again,

Thanks for the help. The file names changed because I blew it and shut down normally before leaving work, but I was able to track them by comparing the log from yesterday. I followed your instructions and got everything I think.

Here is the new log. I think I'm clean thanks to you guys! But, please take one more look at the new log and let me know if you see something I don't.
