Well,
this is my first post here, and wanted to say hey first and foremost.

Ok heres the deal:
Im no stranger to PC's or thier workings but i have one driver install giving me a headache for god know's how long now.

I recently wanted to update the drivers for my SB Audigy 2 ZS and well they never stick....the driver version never changes.....and it's getting real frustrating!

Heres what i have driver wise:
(out of dxdiag)

Driver Name: ctaud2k.sys
Driver Version: 5.12.0001.0441 (English)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
WHQL Logo'd: Yes
Date and Size: 10/8/2003 10:06:04, 366160 bytes

Now i know thats not the latest ones but they will not stick no matter what i do >.<

(while im here i also noticed this :
DirectPlay Lobbyable Apps
Codemasters (DX7) - Registry: Error, ExeFile: ()

WTH is that and why is it broken????

LOL

Please let me know what i need to do to update my sound drivers....cause there seriously lacking!

thanks and look foward to your insight!

Hmmm I'm not a SB user but am gonna take a SWAG at it.

Disconnect the sound card. Uninstall all drivers. Go look for registry keys that refer to Creative, Sound Blaster, Audigy, and any other keywords you can think of. You'll have to be somewhat careful because of legacy support that may indicate Sound Blaster but in general, delete all the keys you find or are comfortable deleting. Delete all copies of drivers, delete any folders in Windows or Program Files or System that may be legacy from previous install attempts. Empty recycle bin, reboot.

Download the driver you want to use. Reinstall the card. Install the driver.

You now have either a) a perfect install with the new driver or b) a hosed box.

    Hope this helps.
