Cox To Boost Broadband Internet Service

edited August 2004 in Science & Tech
In the latest sign of growing competition in the broadband Internet business, Cox Communications Inc. is speeding up its service without charging extra.
The Atlanta-based company says it's boosting the data transfer rate for all three of its three tiers of cable modem service for the same, or lower, monthly cost. The news follows similar announcements from San Antonio-based SBC Communications Inc. and New York-based Verizon Communications Inc., both of which offer DSL, said industry expert David Burstein. He said the moves are no surprise because DSL and cable modem networks are designed to handle higher speeds.
5MBs! Nice :) Not all areas served by Cox are being able to receive the upgrade immediately though. -KF

I just wish Cox would run some lines out to where I'm at so I could get cable broadband. They are within 3 miles of my house but last time I checked had no plans to develop down towards me. :bawling:

Set up some folgers cans with a wireless link on a utility pole where it ends and complete the link to your house. Sounds good in theory at least.

I just tested 3.2mb at Bandwidthplace with Cox. I wonder if we've gotten the upgrade or not yet? We never reach the ideal speed anyway.
