I believe makes some VERY cheap KVMs, but I don't know how many ports they have. I think Shorty has one, and maybe he could help you.

There's always these ones on ebay that are cheap let me find the link ...

well this isn't the exact one I was thinking of but:

Jonshandbrake has a couple of 4 port KVM's IIRC, she (well i guess he) but be able to give you some feedback on them. I've got a couple of the Dlink 2 port integrated KVM's along with a Belkin Ominiview. Both of these are great but not what you want (the omni was well over $400 cdn after cables + everythin).

The ones i got for Sally are called "Laser". Made in Aus, i think. The local puter shop sells them for $109AUD. Nothing flash about them, but they come with 4 cables and do what we want.

The advise given to me as an alternative is to go VNC. Guess this works if you are networking the computers.

I have bought a ton off ebay but actually the one I'm running at the moment is a four port I got from Flintstone for free as he had probs with his mavorite mouse using it. Worked fine for me with a variety of mice and wireless keyboards but be aware you can sometimes run inti incompatibilites. Also beware that longer cables and high resolutions can cause probs, I use it to connect the servers to my desktop rig as I have a nice 21" monitor and the servers in general do not need dedicated monitors. Also makes it easy to work on customers boxs as I hooke them up to the fourth port and just flick back and forth.

This is a auto one that you can use key sequences to cycle through the connected computers without hitting a button on the kvm and you know I have never really used it at all. I just punch a button on the kvm to go to the box I want to be connected to. If thats not important you can get really cheap manual KVM's.

Newegg has some, I just bought a 4 port for my folding boxes. it was about 50.00 with the cables. I figured it was a lot cheaper than a monitor.

Some of the cheaper ones would look like a porcupine when connected, or sell the cables seperate.

The one that donut suggested is good

I have the 2 port one and it works quite well. The only issue i've found is when trying to go into the bios of any particular computer, you have to directly connect a real keyboard to it during boot (the KVM doesn't pass signals until after the comptuer POSTs)

I think I payed like 12 bucks for the last 4 port I got on ebay with four sets of cables.

If you don't need a fancy one you can get them for 15 to 20 bucks all day long.

You guys need to think about a setup like my 6' tall 19" rack setup. I also have a 3 foot tall 19" rack setup right next to it. A bunch of dualies in litle 2u cases would be awesome. I use big fat 4u cases to hold more hd's, cdroms and stuff. But folders don't need any of that nonsense.. The 4U's gets better cooling as the heatsinks can be taller also but with low power rigs you could cram a bunch of dual cpu box's into that form factor.

Yes Tex, I do believe you might be right. (as I look over to my current hodgepodge)

My wife doesn't understand the current addiction, considering in January of this year all I had was an Athlon 850, now she looks at 4 different cases and 1motherboard , all tucked under my old desk.

    btw, yes all folding. :smokin:

Now if only I could get her to keep an eye on these when I'm out of town.
