Yet Another Home Search HJT Log shetech52

First let me tell you how much I appreciate this site and your willingness to help those of us who are :banghead:
As a tech. I thought I had at least reached an intermediate level, but, this Home Search has me feeling like a novice again. It's NASTY :grr:
I have run Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware 6.0 with updates from both. I know that you ask not to include an Ad-Aware scan because of length but there are only 3 items in the scan and I suspect they are related to Spybot (because of the conflict mentioned), I have not removed them yet.
I have attached the HJT Log, plus the entries from AdAware and I will not reboot or make any changes until I get a reply.

Also, assuming this is a result of the same problem! This pointer keeps moving around the screen by itself????
Thank you in advance for the help and I will let you know the results.
Blessings,
shetech52

Those items in Ad Aware are related to your HSA problem but don't try to fix them there.

Please follow our Home Search Assistant Removal Guide first, then come back to this thread and let us know if it worked or not for you.

Part of that guide recommends updating your virus defs and running a full scan in safe mode. I suspect your mouse problem may resolve itself after cleaning HSA, but run a virus scan to make sure.

Post a fresh HJT log for review when you are done.

    Dexter...

    Thanks Dexter,

I just downloaded the HSA removal tool and printed the guide. Taking a deep breath and here I go after this thing again.

I have run Ad-Aware and Spoybot S&D, also did a complete (norton) virus scan. Every thing seems to be running well, no pop ups, no eratic mouse movement, and no hijacked home page on IE. You are incredible!!!!!!!!
Found 28 items with Norton Scan, all were one of three types of Adware, got all of those files removed. Althuogh I had to uncheck several .exe files in StartUp Item/msconfig, before I could delete them in Windows Explorer. After the cleanup I looked at msconfig startup and found one entry left unchecked, it's one that was recoginized as "AdWare.IeFeats" I have looked everywhere I can think of, i.e. Google, MSN, Microsoft, Norton, etc. and can't find any info on this file. I did delete it in Win Explorer
    Startup Item: ieas
    Command: C:\Windows\system32\ieas.exe
    Location: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
This is the one thing preventing me from running Normal StartUp.
If you can tell me what to do about his, I would greatly appreciate it.
OK, now here's the new HJT Log

After the cleanup I looked at msconfig startup and found one entry left unchecked, it's one that was recoginized as "AdWare.IeFeats" I have looked everywhere I can think of, i.e. Google, MSN, Microsoft, Norton, etc. and can't find any info on this file. I did delete it in Win Explorer
    Startup Item: ieas
    Command: C:\Windows\system32\ieas.exe
    Location: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I don't see that item in the HKCU Run entries of your HJT log, so I would guess it has been removed. If you have deleted it, you should be fine.

Clean a couple more items in your HJT log:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file)

    O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-111609289386} - mhtml:file://C:NO_SUCH_MHT.MHT!http://www.008k.com/partner/inst/f12802.exe

That last one is likely an installer / re-installer for something nasty, so you need to quarantine or delete it. It wil lbe located in your Downloaded Program Files folder, in your Windows directory.

Give that a whirl then drop me another post to update me. :)

I found the ieas.exe in the registry in a startup folder. It's gone

I ran HJT and deleted those entries. The Downloaded Programs Folder in Windows is empty, is that the only place this file might be hiding?
