Monitor Studder

In the top right corner of my monitor I am seeing a slight and steady studder/flicker on my screen. I am just now noticing this, but I also just recieved a new Radeon 9800 Pro or XT.

I've had this monitor for quite a while I suppose, dunno how lon off hand. But it's a Sony HMD-A400 19" FlatScreen Trinitron, when I got it back in HS sometime, it was about $500 or $600.

I get the same thing on a 3? year old compaq system. For me it's not just in the corners. It's most noticeable at the left and right edges of the screen and the corners, but if you pay attenion, it happens even in the center of the screen. It's probably just getting old. :(

Same thing as TheGr81 (Comcrap, too, in fact...tho mines bordering 6 or 7 years :zombie: ). Any res changes and it freaks the hell out. Ah well. Time to go buy a new one with the money I don't have :).

I've noticed that having your monitor too close to a wall with power wiring running through it on a plane with the monitor will do that, see if switching the refresh rate to 60hz lessens or removes the wobble, if it does try moving the monitor forward a few inches and switch back to your old refresh rate and see if it's gone.
I had a similar problem happen with one and it also made my system very unstable and fubared my OC but I had the tower right next to the monitor so it was as effected as the monitor was, pulling my desk out from the wall a foot cured both the wobble and my OC woes.

Yeah, magnetic fields. I used to get it when understanding wife turned on the micro wave. After the kitched rebuild two years ago the micro went to the other end. Problem solved.

move away your cell phone, degauss and maybe drop the refresh rate.

just about all you can do, short of dusting the monitor crt off

60Hz makes my eyes bleed and gives me a head ache. How can you suggest that?!

Not as a permanent solution but as a diagnostic tool. The solution is to move the monitor away from the source of the field or shield it if possible with some 16ga steel.
