Camera broke, again.

I got my Kodak ls 443 back from Kodak around three weeks ago. When it came back there was a rattle inside it, very quiet small rattle like a tiny piece of something inside. It had gone in to have a missing zoom button fitted (kids somehow lost it!)
I came down yesterday, sat at the PC and noticed the camera in it's dock with the lens sticking out. I tried to turn it on but it won't do anything. The power light comes on (green) and a red light flashes next to the view finder, a couple of seconds later both lights go off. I've tried removing the battery, pressing all buttons etc, nothing does anything. The rattle is still there so I don't think it's a bit stuck in the gears . Anybody know of anywhere to take it in the UK to have it fixed or is there something else I could do? :banghead:

Sounds like a piece of the mechanical works have come out, a gear broken or some such.

Did you buy online? Ask about an RMA. If you bought at a retail store, see about a warranty repair.

Understanding wife bought it me 20 months ago from Dabs.com. I think the warrentys run out. I'll phone Kodak this morning and see if they'll do it for free. Due to the rattle I don't think they put it back together right when they had it.

Phoned Kodak. They gave me a new RMA number and are charging me for shipping but didn't mention charging for fixing it. Got to wait for a letter from UPS now to see when they'll pick it up. I think I'll just go with it.

Good luck, hopefully they cover at their expense.

I like it and think it's a good one. It does seem strange though that this happens just after they send it back with a rattle.
