Need Help

I think my computer has been reinfected with the Search200.com spyware. I've been running OmegaKillerSM1.1 successfully for about 1 week, but somehow, it's comeback.

Any suggestions?

    Please download version 1.2 from our download section, it was released just this week.

    If Omegakiller works and removes the hijack from your system, but it comes back a couple of days later, you are getting reinfected. That means you are visiting a website or downloading a file that is re-infecting you. Examine your browsing habits more carefully.

    For instance, after cleaning Search200 off your system, try this: for 2 weeks, do not surf any porn. Do not go to any "hackerz" or "warez" sites. Do not go to any game cheats sites. Do not download anything from peer-to-peer programs. Only visit nice legitimate sites like this one, and news sites, or MSN or Yahoo. I'll bet you will not get reinfected. :)

    Otherwise, switch to a different browser, one that does not get hijacked so easily. Read this article on Defeating Spyware to learn about those options and download those apps. If you insist on staying with Internet Explorer, disable Active X completely. You will have trouble with many sites, but at least you will not get drive-by hijacked.

    Thanks for the advice. I downloaded version 1.2 and seems to be working.

    FYI, while i have viewed porn and downloaded music in the past, it's been several weeks since I've done that. I'll "abstain" in the meantime and follow your suggestion. Not really downloading anything from the net.

    However, there is a stable of regular business and sports websites that I regularly visit. I'll keep you posted to see if I get reinfected (hopefully, I will not get it!).

    FYI..I was born in Calgary so from 1 Canadian to another, thanks for the help!

    No problem, glad we could help.

    I used to live near Calgary ,I grew up in Alberta. Love Calgary - except the Flames....grrrr from a Canuck fan!! Actually, I used to cheer for the Flames way back when they won the Stanley Cup, just switched allegiances after moving to Vancouver. But I did cheer for them in the Finals this year, too bad they just couldn't do it against Tampa Bay.
