hdd partition problem
So i just built my first pc and when i turned it on everything worked fine so i then did all the cmos stuff then i continued to put xp pro in and it starts up fine then i get to a screen that says press enter to start setup so i press enter, then my problems begin it then says that i dont have a partition compatible with xp but i can create a new one or delete the old one and start a new one. so it sends me back to the screen where i can press d to delete or c to create a new one. if i press c it sends me to a screen where i can specify the size of the partition and then press enter, when i do it sends me right back where i was. so then i decided to press d well nothing happens at all no screen pops up nothing. so it justs keeps on sending me in circles.
anyone have any ideas
thanks for the help

1)go to your hdd homepage to check on any drive utilities that you can download onto a floppy disk that will format and partition your specific hdd
2)use a win98se boot disk available at bootdisk homepage and download the win98se oem one. Use your startup disk to FDISK to create and format a partition. Check out this FDISK guide at this link radified's fdisk guide
Of course if you don't have a floppy disk drive, then this information will not be of assistance
