Could someone please review a new HJT log? I need help!

I'm attaching a new HJT log. A few things are going on and I'm not sure why. The system is old, with Wins 98, but it's freezing up constantly. I logged onto Yahoo and it froze, so I had to reboot. I've tried inserting clipart into a word document and the message not enough memory pops up. If i turn the computer off and retry the clipart and Yahoo, it works fine. I was also wondering if you could tell me what some folders are and if they are needed. In the Common Files folder, there is a Designer, Dpi, midaddle, mozilla.org, Odbc, Services, and SWF Studio folder. Have no idea what these are and if they are important. Also in the Programs, there in a NavExcel and Rzs folder that I have no idea about. In Windows/temp, there are some in there also that I'm not familiar with. I'm just trying to delete anything that is not needed. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks Jen

My good friend Mr. Google says that Middadle = adware.

    http://www.midaddle.com/service_overview.html

RZS= hard to say, likely some leftover adware.

    NavExcel: adware.

    http://www.navexcel.com/live/faqs.html

    The either items are legit.

Your log looks okay, except that you have not deleted some of the items I indicated in the other thread, notably the Ares program.

How much RAM does this computer have? As it stands, you have several background Compaq apps running, Iomega Zip drive software, and printer drivers, plus the OS. Then, whatever apps you have running on top of that. Might be time for a RAM upgrade.

Is it okay to delete the mentioned folders? I ran a new scan and fixed the items listed in the other thread. I didn't do anything to the start up items since you didn't suggest taking them off. Also, I've noticed the pop-up "sytem running slow...." popping up again. The computer has 128 MB of RAM. I know, ancient. Here is a fresh HJT log. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

That looks reasonably clean, alot fewer running processes.

Perhaps you need to set Virtual Memory Higher...

Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar and choose Settings, and then click Control Panel from the submenu.

In the Control Panel window, double-click System.

In the System Properties dialog box, click the Performance tab. Then click the Virtual Memory button. Observe the settings there for initial and maximum size, and come back here to tell me what they are. Do not change anything yet....

OK..when I checked the Virtual Memory...the box "Let Windows manage..." was checked. When I clicked on "Let me specify..." Hard Disk has 7599 MB Free, Minimum is 0, and Maximum is 7599. I left it for Windows to manage until I hear your suggestions.

    Thanks,

Ok....please make a new post on the Windows forum:

    http://www.short-media.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=32

Explain that you are on Win 98, having resource problems, and repeat that last info. One of the regulars on that board may be able to advise you on that better, I think you may be able to tweak it manually for better results.

Thanks Dexter. Got a new thread posted there. Will see what happens. Thanks again for all your help.
