Ahhh, attack of the dust bunnies...

These dust bunnies are breeding like crazy! Every week I have to clean out my case. :banghead:
I tried one of those Scotch pads for cleaning dishes, but it blocks too much airflow. What can I use as a filter?

I've heard other peeps report success with pantyhose.

Lately I have been using a filter that is typically put in register vents to keep the dust out of my case. If you have a chenming/antec/dragon case it will slide perfectly into the slot at the bottom of the front bezel. It does restrict airflow a bit, but it also does a great job of keeping the dust bunnies at bay.

I tried pantyhose, but they were so uncomfortable that I had to take them off.
Right now my boxen are raised up off of the floor 4-5" (on top of the ups) and there is a piece of cardboard that is the width of the case and sticks out at the bottom of the front a couple of inches. It keeps the front fans from sucking stuff off of the floor.

Yeah thanks... Like I hadn't thought of that. :rolleyes2
No matter what I do, there always seems to be a lot of dust in my computer room.

store the dead bodies in another room?

seriously though, i suggest finding a way to get your computer as high up from off the floor where it can't suck up dust stored in the carpeting as you can. that, coupled with just about any decent filter device, should alleviate your qualms quite nicely i would imagine.

Get one of those powered air filter thingies, and run that in the same room as your computer. That'd keep the room clean, and in turn the computer.

Seriously, I have a dust problem in my home too (no matter how many times I vacuum a month). Lucky for me, my latest case comes with a washable air filter that sits in front of the intake fans. This seems to keep my computer surprisingly clean for a long period of time (~3 months).

check out www.mouser.com, im using their "industrial" 80mm fan filters. basically a piece of foam type stuff cut to fit the 80 mm fans. they also have cheap dc fans and fan grills.

Yes, a cut-out piece of thin foam AC (room type) foam filter that is fastened to a filter frame for a fan, on the intake side of the front case fan, will do the job of trapping dust. The trick is to stretch it tight. and rinse and dry before reusing, or rinse and blow water drops out of with an air can or vacuum\blower combo machine.

Um, http://www. mouser.com/ is an excellent place to find a lot of what is available. Iordered a catalog also.

(the comma became part of the link in original post about mouser as fan and filter source, but they have an excellent selection)
