HSA removed, now Notepad is missing

After removing Home Search Assistent I find Windows Notepad (I'm running XP Pro) is missing. In fact when I go to Control Panel - Accessories - Notepad...I am taken to Welcome to the Accessibility Wizard. Could my hijack have messed this up? Or, did I? Any thoughts? Thanks.

The hijack may have altered your notepad.exe file, this is a known behaviour of the old CWS hijack, and it is widely believed that HSA is the new version of CWS.

You can either re-install notepad from your XP cd using the Extract feauture, or download one of the net. You are the 2nd or 3rd person who has had this happen, maybe we will post a copy of the file in the guide thread.

Do you know how to do that, or do you need a tutorial?

I can probably figure it out, but if you have a tutorial already written I would be happy to take a look at it. Thanks.

Rename it to an exe, and put it in the original's place.

I found notepad in C:\\windows\system32\dllcache, copied it and pasted it in its correct location. Then I changed the path in the notepad short-cut. Works fine. Thanks for everyone's help.
