My 46th birthday is this weekend . My wife usually gets me a game. I don't know which one to ask for. Need some suggestions. I prefer FPS.
Half-Life 2 already preordered.
Just finished DOOM 3 ( I think it sucked ) way to predictible it seemed to get easier and easier----Way to dark---I beat the last boss in 15 min.
Loved Far Cry -- Took me over a week to finish the Volcano map
enjoyed Return to Castle Wolfenstein
enjoyed Max Payne 1 and 2
Matrix sucked
Loved all the original Half-life titles
Did not much care for any of the Tom Clancy titles

Suggestions please

Thanks

Scott

Edit

Well a couple of good games coming out.

Stalker - Comes out early next year so probably no good.
Rome total war - looks close to being finished.
Tribes vengance - Got a singleplayer but tribes is known for multiplayer.

Deusex invisible war is quite good though I think I prefered the first one or call of duty is a decent single player game. Another I thought was very good was Alien v predator 2.

    Thanks guys !

Now that you mention it I recall playing the Alien vs. Predetor demo. I may have to give that a go.

    Any others ?

    Painkiller! I love that game!

Try the demo, you'll love it. The weapons are just too sweet, and there is a good deal of replay value. I'm playing it completely through the second time.

Well I just played a level of the Painkiller demo. Not my cup of tea.

    Maybe something a little more Sci-Fi ?

The cool thing about painkiller is that each level is a totally different setting - the demo level is a medieval village. There's a modern military base where you have to take out tanks and stationary guns, there's the Tower of Babel, there's a gothic graveyard, there's a train station set in WW2-era Zurich.... Totally cool.. I still think you'd like it if you could play one of the other levels.

    /me stops jocking painkiller...

The hell level? omg I know - one of the most creative levels I've ever seen - and definitely the most original "hell" i've ever seen. No fire and brimstone for me, please! :D

I say try some of the good ol' free HL mods. Natural-Selection is great, but I've been playing alot of Day of Defeat lately, cant get enough of it.
