please help...I'm at a loss!

Hi and thanks for reading.

I have an issue that I think may be virus/spyware related, but I'm curious if you have heard this one before.

On various websites, I will click on something and it shuts down IE. Sometimes, it happens when I click on "search" or "find" or even on a real estate site where I clicked on the picture of a house for more info. Have you ever heard of anything like this?

Thanks,
Michelle :banghead:

    Try re-installing Internet Explorer:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

If that does not work, let's see your HJT log.

Ok...get this...I went to download it and when I tried to do so, I got a pop-up box with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point on it (caution, I guess) and the header of the box is J2GPfcW. I closed it because I was scared it was something fishy and that was it. The download process went no further. Never started the download either. I tried it again, and the box appeared again. I moved over and wrote this and it's still on my screen.

Stay in Safe mode, manually locate the exe and dll files in the entries above, and quarantine them.

Reboot normally, check things out, and come back to let us know how it turned out. Post a fresh HJT log for review. If things looks clean, re-enable your system restore and set a new restore point.

You are running Windows XP, and have not yet upgraded to Service Pack 2, please do so, especially if you plan to stay on Internet Explorer.
