940 is dual channel memory, requires registrered ram, which is more $$$$
939 is dual channel memory, takes any type of ram, but mobo's are still new/buggy
754 is single channel memory, takes any type of ram.

Thank you very much! Looks like stick with the 754 for now... and wait to hear better things on the 939.

Check out reviews on the 939 mobos. They are looking better each day.
The are the selected path forward, so you will have more future options if you go that way.

    Also Socket 939 Dual Channel CPUs (3500+ (2.2ghz 512K), 3800+ (2.4ghz 512K), FX-53 (2.4ghz 1MB)) only give you +5% over their Socket 754 Single Channel counterparts (3200+ 2.2ghz 512K, 3400+ (2.4ghz 512K), 3700+ (2.4ghz 1MB)) But cost a HELL of a lot more.

    Newegg Retail A64 Pricing
    Socket 754: 3200+ $218 3400+ $295 3700+ $539
    Socket 939: 3500+ $459 3800+ $649 FX-53 $775

Athlon 64s are picky about memory. Only buy Quality Ram. Ask around the forums about what works and what doesn't.
