Sm10

Hey guys,
I think I have finally made up the points SM10 lost due to power outages and such a couple of months ago. :) I'll be switching my other rigs back to their old names (still Team 93) in the near future.

I'm on freakin' dial-up now and I don't want to mess with ICS, so I'm running multiple instances and uploading once a day (usually).

This does not fit the criteria (as I understand it) for a SM host, so if the committee wants me to give SM10 to someone else, just let me know.

The way I see it MrBill, you will keep the rig folding no matter what it takes, so why would we want to take her away from you?

BTW, are you running Win2K Pro on SM10 by any chance? If so, you can easily set it up to automatically connect to send the wu in and you can have EMIII automatically disconnect after the wu has been transmitted and a new wu is folding. I tried it one time when I was on dialup and I remember that EMIII would actually shut down the internet connection when I tried to get online and browse too, caused me a bit of headache until I figured out what was happening. ;D

You do a GREAT job hosting SM10, Bill. Better than some other host, esp the former host of IC10. As long as you have a steady 56k connection that you can connect to when you need it then you still qualify to be a host.

Ok, I'll keep her running. Thanks guys.

mudd - I can set it up to auto-connect, but that machine doesn't have a modem in it. I have an SMC router with a com port. I got it to dial when an internet connection was necessary, and it would get an IP address, but it would not bring up any web pages or anything. I'll probably get back to playing with it again at some point, but just really haven't had the time.

csimon - the boss is doing okay. She's been mad at me for two days because I was supposed to be off, but I had to work. Such is life...LOL!

I don't post much since going on dial-up, but I'll keep turning in Work Units. :)

MrBill, I would be happy to donate a modem to SM10. Just say the word and I'll get one tested and sent your way. :)

Well MrBill ...I have all the confidence in the world that you know exactly what it takes to smooth things out all over again ...that's why she's MrsBill!

I have a system worked out for sending/receiving work units, so SM10 doesn't need a modem. Thanks for the offer guys!

I'm pretty sure I'll get the router to work on dial-up when I have time to play with it. I also have to get a second phone line before I do that so it doesn't try to go online while someone is on the phone...

As far as I'm concerned, your enthusiasm for the team, excessive contributions, and sacrifice more than makes up for the lack of a 24/7 connection... I almost cried when you said you'd give up hosting SM10. I'm glad you decided to keep hosting it!
