Corrupt Netscape Mail File
Hello,
I have a question regarding Netscape Mail & Newsgroups (used to be called messenger I think). Anyway, a user called me saying that when he started Netscape Mail, his profile was gone and he had to re-enter all of his account information. Further, all of his messages are gone. I opened the folder where netscape stores his messages, and there are now two folders for his account, one called gobrainstorm.net and the other is called gobrainstorm-1.net. His local folders are the same way. I tried pointing netscape to the old (non -1) folder, and it couldn't open anything, no inbox, trash, etc. I tried to import the messages into Outlook and Outlook Express but neither of those programs could do it.
My next step was to copy the individual mail files from the old folder and paste them into the new folder. This worked for all his local folders. All the messages are there, the trash and drafts folders are there and have all the messages that they should. However, I still can't get the inbox to open. I have managed to get a few messages to show up, but nothing received earlier than yesterday morning. The inbox file is huge (1.7 GB) and I fear that it has become corrupted. Are there any other ways to salvage the emails from this inbox file? Maybe another email program that would be able to import the messages even though Outlook and OEX weren't able to? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
