Can't finish them?

I don't know what's up with me lately. I always used to finish games, right to the bitter end, but recently I can't be bothered (no pun intended)
I like all these games but seem to get to a point where I sit at the PC and think " I'll have a go at (insert game here),"10 seconds later, "I can't be bothered" I have done this with - CoD single player, Dues ex 2, Theif 3, Tomb raider AOD, Prince of Presia and a couple of others. I got Doom 3 last week and already I'm getting fed up with it, I don't seem to be 'gripped' by them anymore. I play CoD multi everyday but what's happening to me? Have I caught some kind of apathy virus?

Took me close to 2 years to finally finnish Half Life. I understand completely. You'll either finnish them or you wont, and if you don't your only avoiding the complete let down. You prolly know somewhere within yourself that the endings are going to be lame anyway so you figure you might as well not even bother with it. It's been so long since I've seen a good ending to a game that i've stopped trying to beat games and just try to enjoy playing them.

im the opposite, i've gotten to the point where the multiplayer no longer interests me.

i love the single player games, but those are a problem now too since i can beat them all so quickly. i just beat doom 3 on nightmare in 10 hours! wtf, they need to make these things harder.

what happened to all my 70 hour final fantasy expeditions. the only game i've actually gone back and played a little bit more of recently was ffx.

i think that what killed the multiplayer experience for me though was mmo's, which i'm waiting to get back into (eq2). hopefully that'll revitalize online gaming for me

Doom III's ending is utter trash for such a much-hyped and expected game that I can definitely see the points made here.
    Nuff 'said.

I am with you bothered. I can't be a$$ed either. I end up working instead. I have games here still to install. Some are 6 months old. A couple of years back I could be playing online until 3/4am. But lost the heart to do it now. I suppose I don't need the escape that I used to as I have the kids and my own business to deal with?

I too have a "backlog" of games that I haven't even installed yet. That's one of the reasons that I brought my "good computer" home and brought my crappy one to the office. I shouldn't be playing games at the office anyway, and now, I just can't!

Although one problem too is that I have been playing Painkiller way too much. I've beaten it twice, but I have to "master" the game before I can put it away. There's still one more card for me to get .... one more card....

I haven't seriously played a single player game in a loooong time. The last time I played SP would probably have been black and white. It seems that everyone is just doing the same old levels, same bad guys, same challenges. Making things prettier just doesn't do it for me. I'm hoping HL2 will be the one that breaks the trend.

I have been in much the same mode -
    BUT
This started when I went through games too easily
Half Life I finnished in about 4 days
Blue shift was only two days
I recently chugged through SpiderMan 2 and was extremely dissapointed when I finnished in in 4 hours - when the credits rolled I was shocked I was finnished
Same happened to Halo and Alien Vs Pred 2

Max Payne 2 I finnished in a few days

Currently have Doom 3 and am bored with it - story has not grabbed me
Have Splinter Cell : Pandora to install but have not done so yet.

I use to be addicted to Asherons Call - I had a handfull of extremely powerfull characters and then one day just wandered around the towns handing out bags of cash and my uber items, logged off and canceled my account.

Have been thinking maybe looking around for what currently is a good online RFP

Or a good space sim - I loved the Wing Commander series

Starcraft was also a mad favourite of mine - Warcraft 3 I finnished too easily, Starcraft was much better balanced and more a challenge in the missions

So I am almost in the same boat

I only play games on hard at this point. the main problem is that I'm far too good at first person shooters. HL, 3 Hours. Doom, 10 Hours. RPG's interest me, but the only good ones that look to be coming out is fable and I hear its fairly short. RTS just can't grab my attention, nor can top down "action rpgs" like Diablo

personal preference is ruining my gameplay experience :(
