SATA probelm, HELP!

edited September 2004 in Hardware
Ok I recently bought a 120gb Maxtor SATA drive. I've run many benchmarks and can't get above 3.3mb/s. I've been through the simple solutions from Maxtor support and have ran PowerMax, and the drive is fine. One solution was update the drives, but the SATA for my board on the Gigabyte website won't install on my computer (it says I have in compatible hardware). I don't know what to do... somebody please help! Thanks!

did u install the sata scsi drivers during the install or at through control pannel
as if u update the drivers through control pannel you have actually created the problem.

the scsi drivers used to install the os onto the hdd during the install. are the ones you should not update. i noticed when i tried to update the drivers after the install the pc slowed down big time and the pc even began to crash.
so id say dont update drivers for your scsi after the os has already been installed. leave the original ones in their. hope that makes it easier.
    cheers.
