Can't get rid of Home Search [urgent!]

I am having trouble with this home search virus thing. I followed your "Home Search Assistant Removal Guide" and still can't get rid of it. That's how I found this board, btw. I was hoping someone could assistant me because I have no idea what to do now. Here is a list of programs I use for spyware, etc.

- Adaware 6
- Pest Patrol
- BHO Demon 2.0
- Hijackthis
- About Buster
- Spyware Blaster (which keeps popping up to tell me that my BHO has been changed, again and again and again..oy)
- Spyware Guard
- McAfee Virus Scan 8 Professional
- Spybot Search & Destroy

All these programs and I still can't get rid of it. :banghead:

I've included my Hijackthis log and am hoping someone can help fix this otherwise I'll be hurling my computer out the window.

Allow me to direct your attention to this post:

    Forum Etiquette.

    In particular:
be patient!!. Sometimes people will get replies in minutes. Other times it may take a day or two to get a response. This is entirely dependent on the schedules of the people who volunteer their time here. Most of us have jobs, spouses, kids, etc, in our real lives, and those things take priority. If you don't see a response immediately, please do not post "bumps" to move your thread up, unless it has been several days since you have had a reply. When the SVT SWAT Team members come into this forum, we scan the "replies" column, and identify the threads that have 0 replies. Often, we will try to work on those older ones first before moving to the newer ones. Being at the top of the threads does not work in your favour. If you "bump" your thread 3 or 4 times, what we may end up seeing is a thread with 3 or 4 replies, at the top of the list, and another post at the bottom of the page with ZERO replies. Guess who I am going to try to help first??

There are currently 12 threads in line before you, some of whom have been waiting since yesterday. We don't sit online twiddling our thumbs until you come along and give us your problems to fix for you for free. We have lives too, and for folks like myself and primesuspect, who are the most active in this forum right now, we have wives and kids we like to spend time with on the weekends. In fact, I have to go cook supper for mine right now. :)

One of us will help you as soon as we can, usually within 24 hours of your first post. I will likely be on later this evening to catch up on posts. You have bumped yourself up to the top, so now you have to work your way back down again. If you bump yourself up again, your wait will be longer. Be patient. Your computer is not going to self destruct from this problem.

    Ok, your turn... :)

You have apparently not stopped the fake service on your computer.

You need to see Post #2 of the HSA Removal Guide, to learn how to generate a log of your active services (try that first), or a startuplist log. Then post the log here for review.

Ok, I am not seeing any of the problem services, did you locate and remove one when following the guide?

The items you need to fix (after hard booting to Safe Mode) are:

Okay, I hard booted a couple nights ago and managed to disable Network Security Service. I once saw Workstation NetLogon Service, disabled that and it disappeared from the list. However, NSS still remains but it's still disabled. As for Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper I've never seen that listed. Only Remote Procedure Call and Remote Procedure Call Locator.

Anyway, I hard booted to safe mode and when I ran hijackthis nothing came up but I saved the log anyway and it's the first one listed below. The second log is from when I came back in normal mode. The only thing that keeps showing up is R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing and no matter how many times I "fix" it in hjt it still keeps showing up. Also, I noticed in my add/remove programs the following programs still remain: Home Search Assistant, Search Extender, and Shopping Wizard. I've even tried cleaning them off the list with EZ Cleaner and they still reappear. Am I missing something?

Do you still have HSA or is it gone?

It stopped bugging me after I disabled Network Security Service. However, when I run HJT this "R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing" still appears and no matter how many times I try to fix it, it keeps coming back. The same goes for Home Search Assistant, Search Extender, Shopping Wizard - they are still listed in my add/remove programs and keep appearing even after I delete them with Easy Cleaner. Plus, I can't type an address in my address bar like this "mail.yahoo.com". I used to be able to type that without the http:// in front of it but now it says it's not valid unless I type the http://. It does that with every address I type in and it never used to be not valid with the http:// and that started happening after I got hijacked.

I ran HJT and fixed the urlsearchismissing thing and the line above you said to fix. As of right now it's all good, but if I start to have problems again I will let you know. Here's my log after fixing both items. Thanks to you and Dexter I might actually have this hijacking beast gone! Thank you so much! :)
