Thanks for help everyone cured the problem by reformatting the partition.

    Sorry I missed this :(

I would have suggested doing a repair install instead of a complete format. Now that you reformatted it, do you successfully have SP2 + your proper video drivers working correctly?

    Hi prime,
So far I have not been succesful in running sp2 with graphics driver its an old card and i should upgrade but i dont want to as it has served my purposes adequatly and still is just not on sp2,I read on a forum that sometimes an older set of drivers may be worth a try, i will try but i dont hold out much hope.I am going to leave sp2 for a few more weeks before I try again as I have been led to believe its still very buggy a work in progress so to speak. :)
    ty for belated assistance lol
    regards mutz

Actually I really think the "buggy" rumors are unfounded. I've installed SP2 on at least 30 machine so far (for clients as well as our own office and personal machines) and haven't had any problems with it.

Maybe its more likely that my problems are due to unsupported hardware, not a buggy install.
