Do I need to remove Window Searching?

In the last year I have been infected with the Omegasearch hijacker about 6 times. The first 5 times I got rid of the hijacker by removing a mysterious program called "Window Searching" (by using Add/Remove Programs). Today, after my 6th infection, I tried your program, OmegaKillerSM 1.2. The good news is that OmegaKillerSM appeared to work fine. The uninvited desktop icons and toolbars were removed. They have not returned after reboot.
Also, the HJT log appears clean.

However. . . I do still see "Window Searching" in the Add/Remove Programs listing. This is causing me some concern. I am worried that all/part of Omegasearch is still on my PC.
Do I need to remove this program to completely sanitize my system from Omegasearch?

Is OmegaKillerSM designed to remove the "Window Searching" program?

Regards,
Ken L

It is not, but I actually noticed that a little while ago and mentioned it to Mondi (the programmer.) He is going to try to include it in the next release. Do not run the uninstaller, because it is actually a re-infector (unless you have removed the exe file it points too, or ran OmegakillerSM which quarantines it.)

In the meantime, use a program like Easy Cleaner to clean stray items out of your Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.

    Dexter:

Thanks for the info. I just ran Easy Cleaner and it removed "Windows Searching" from the Add/Remove Programs listing.

Please read our article on Defeating Spyware for tips on how to improve your Internet Explorer security, or to learn how to switch to a different browser. For more general information about spyware read this page.

If you are running Windows XP, and have not yet upgraded to Service Pack 2, please do so, especially if you plan to stay on Internet Explorer.
