Another dead drive
The HD in my moms laptop just died. Apparently it has been making these slow loading churning noises and clicking for a few days ( :banghead: ). By the time she actually shows me, it takes about 10 minutes to boot into Windows then standbys itself, I try a single reboot and it bluescreens on boot, so I think that is dead now, though I'm going to buy a drive adapter to try and salvage at least something or show that I am trying.
The laptop is a IBM Thinkpad 380Z and only had a 4GB drive in, so I was trying to find a replacement of the same size or only slightly bigger as I assume it could have problems if I try anything too big in it, as it's a very old machine. Does anyone know anywhere to get anything cheaply around this size? As eBay seems to have virtually nothing under 10GB, and even the 10GB drives seem to be coming in around £30 which is a bit mad really.
Or, does anyone have a 2.5" drive around that size that they wouldn't mind selling?
Just looking for ideas,
Cheers.
