Welcome to short-media. Sorry that omegakiller didn't work for you, they're probably coming out with new variants to beat our removal tool. Glad we can keep them on their toes :D

No need to hunt them down. They are:

    C2 Media Ltd.
    Unit 12, 571 Finchley Road
    Hampstead, London, NW3 7BN
    United Kingdom

    Anyways, remove the following:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2843DAC1-05EF-11D2-95BA-0060083493D6} - C:\WINDOWS\Speech\Dragon\web_ie.dll

    O4 - Startup: Yahoo! BB.lnk = C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Get RID of the file: C:\WINDOWS\SPEECH\DRAGON\WEB_IE.DLL

Reboot after that, and post a new log.

What else to do to squash this parasite? Thanks again for your help, it very much appreciated.

You atre probably going to have truy this a bit more aggresively, and use Safe Mode. Safe Mode is often better for removing this type of item, because the active process which keeps it alive in Normal Mode is not running in Safe Mode.

If you are not sure how to do some of the things I tell you, check the links I provide for instructions.

Please make sure that HijackThis.exe is in its own folder, as explained here. Also, you have an older version of Hijack This, the newer one is available on our Security Downloads page (link on that post or in my signature.)

Set your system to Show Hidden Files and folders.

For Windows XP or ME, Disable System Restore.

    Reboot into Safe Mode.

Run Hijack This. FIX THE FOLLOWING:

    **************

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {03FE784D-2CC5-85B1-E87B-261F8EDDA9B9} - C:\PROGRA~1\FOUROB~1\WARN PING.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [extra new multi creative] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Curbteamextranew\bore new.exe

    **************

Stay in Safe mode, manually locate the exe and dll files in the entries above, and quarantine them.

Reboot normally, check things out, and come back to let us know how it turned out. Post a fresh HJT log for review. If things looks clean, re-enable your system restore and set a new restore point.

As I was lurking in the program files I found some dat files hidden in various folders. They all had various mutations of four obj, phat obj, four obj obj, great obj. each folder had a file titled cake that.dat. Could this be a possible source of infection? In addition to that I found a folder called encigridowns. In it there were 11 files (names such as bait dead bin.exe, wait upload.exe, wfflzfn.exe). These files were all created closly to the time of infection. They were all about 250 mb size. Is this anything? Thanks again for all the help. PS is there any kind of effort to boycott the products or businesses that use omega to throw up there advertisement, or anything else to make these bastards feel the pinch. Have a great day.

    Sincerely
    Ryan

    Okay, new method.

First, open up your task manager by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL and selecting "Task manager"

Then go to the Processes tab

Then, END ANY instance of IEXPLORE.EXE that you see.

    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

THEN, delete these entries in HJT:
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://iilwiarookutqorwzebfu.info/b...S/2YXSDywz.html

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Atom Heck] C:\PROGRA~1\ENCGRI~1\upload wait.exe

    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Now, go to C:\PROGRAM FILES\ and delete the folder named ENCGRI something or other. Something that starts with ENC

Once you delete that, reboot, then download the newest version of HJT (1.98.2) from our security downloads page (link in my sig) and then post a log with that version of HJT.

Looks clean... Have you rebooted and does the problem seem to be gone?

have been back online for about a half an hour and nothing yet. The super heros at short media again have triumphed again. Is there any concentrated attack on these bastards that put this stuff out? Legal, physical violence, or feeding their own crap back to them that one could get involved in. They piss me off to no end. Thanks again for all of your help. Have a great day.
