AC 97 on Abit VA-10 VERY quiet.

I can't seem to get the volume on this mobo up over a whisper even when maxed out. Headphones are all go, both jacks have same, low output. I have gone through the normal channels of turning everything up but nothing seems to make a difference. What should I do?

    I guess I'll have to plug in some speakers on my VA-10 folding rig and see what it sounds like; I installed the drivers for the onboard sound but never have even tried it out to see how it sounds. It will be a couple of weeks before I can do that as I'm presently at work on the rig though, just got out here yesterday. I'll be working a minimum of a 14 day hitch but I moght work over and get an extra $400 per day bonus if things work out right. I need to get a nest egg together for a new truck for my wife.
