Time for another Short-Media Selects poll. This time the topic is Backup Software or Methods

After Short-Media member Guyute posted this thread. I thought it was a good time to discuss this topic.

So let's hear them, your Backup Software or Method of Choice. By method, I mean: "I don't use software but just manually move files to a CD-RW once a week." Tell us what you do and what you use to do it. I have started out the poll with a couple of options, and will add more as suggestions come in.

If you are using software, please provide a link for review.

All right Short-Media, let's select!

Dexter...

/EDIT: Links to choices posted so far:

I added a new option and voted for it. Acronis True image is the best imaging/backup software I have used, EVER. It is so user friendly and comes with a great incremental(sp) backup function.

I've said it so many times on here.. I should just cut & paste.

Acronis True Image is simply the most flexible, coherent and easy to use (yet powerful) backup software out there. Incremental backups, disk migrations, cloning, imaging..

    Ghost eats it's dust

I use connected.com to provide an online backup solution. It is the easiest hands off way to back up my network. It automatically determines which files have change and backs up only those each night. Very reliable so far too.

For the most part, I use a second hard drive to store my backup files. For the really critical ones, I burn a copy to CD. To me, it's absolutely useless to ghost my whole HDD, because by the time I'd restore any backup, the system drivers would either be hopelessly outdated, or for hardware that wasn't even in my system any more.

Why do need a backup??? :buck:

Every week I backup my important docs/etc to another computer.
Every month I do a full backup to another computer.

I have tried and tried to use acronis... just can ot get it to work with DVD's, CD's or HD's... Not a fan. I am sure I would be if I could get it to work... it always falls over for me (on diff systems...).
I have used Ghost in diff ways... for builds and backups... It's ok but image can get corrupted. Otherswise I manully burn data that is important or copy to another HD/PC etc...
