Please help diagnose my computer ailments

I'm getting popup's from offeroptimizer. I've updated and run both adaware as well as search and destroy. If somebody could please analyze my HT log, and give me some advice, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,
Levi

    Welcome to Short Media forums.

Before doing the following, please Set your computer to show hidden files and folders, Disable System Restore, and Reboot in Safe Mode.

Once you have done that, Run HijackThis and have it fix the following:

    O2 - BHO: LocalNRDObj Class - {00320615-B6C2-40A6-8F99-F1C52D674FAD} - C:\WINDOWS\localNRD.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [srwudebh] C:\WINDOWS\System32\oziwcx.exe

Then find and locate the files listed above and Quarentine Them.

Once you have done that, reboot, scan with HijackThis again, and post a new log.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out, I've learned a valuable lesson on "what not to download". I followed your instructions pretty carefully. I did notice that after I used HijackThis to fix those three items, I couldn't locate any of them but one to perform the quorentine. This file:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [srwudebh] C:\WINDOWS\System32\oziwcx.exe

I was able to quorentine. The other two I couldn't locate after Hijack fixed them. Here is my new log.

Your log looks clean. Are you still getting the popups?
  • edited September 2004
I haven't got a pop-up since I did that! Thanks for all of your help. Can I delete the EXE file that I quorentined?
  • SpywareShooterSpywareShooter 127.0.0.1
    edited September 2004
Yes, you can delete the quarentined file now. You can also re-enable system restore and set a new restore point. Also, please take the time to check out some of the sticky topics in this forum, especially the ones about how to prevent spyware, and how you got infected.

A great way of thanking us would be to stick around and post on the forums a bit. We can always use new users :). If you have any more spyware problems, feel free to ask here. We'll be here to help you.

Since this seems to be resolved, I am going to close this topic.
