Omega Search Problem (I Think)
Hi all! My name is Greg, and I think I have the Omega Search Problem...
Symptoms:
6 Icons appear on desktop
New favorites in IE
Homepage reset
Search bar
What I have done thus far:
Ran newest version of Adaware
Ran Newest version of Search & Destroy
Ran newest version of Omegakiller
Ran Hijack this
So here is the deal. Spyware programs come up with diddly squat. Omegakiller works, but it all comes back, say, 15 minutes later. Hijack this, I got rid of alot of stuff that was crap, and I think the stuff left is all good stuff, but I keep getting the icons etc back. I have MSN Plus!, and I did say no too the advertisement install thing when installing, so i don't think thats it.
As you probably know, it is extremely frustrating! I have turned to posting as a last resort, after wearing out this and other forums trying to fix it myself.
I would appreciate ANY and ALL help to get rid of this nuisance!
Thanks
Greg

Then, hit Ctrl-alt-del, get into the task manager, and go to the processes tab.
ANY instances of Iexplore.exe should be ended (End process button on the bottom right), especially this one:
c:\progra~1\intern~1\iexplore.exe
THEN, when the process has ended, go into c:\windows\ and DELETE the file called realtime.exe
After that, reboot, and post a new log with the newest version of HJT (1.98.2) which can be found on our security downloads page (link in my sig).
Should that do it? Thanks a million for your help!
