This computer is running a Broadxent(Creative) DSI V.92 PCI DI3631 modem. Whenever the system is off and the phone rings the machine boots up. I disabled the option that said allow this device to bring the computer out of standby, but i cant find any other options about bootup. This is on windows 2K SP3, Gigabyte GA7-DX, Duron 1.1Ghz, 256PC 2100 all stock speed. Thanks for any advice

If you left it on to fold it wouldnt have this problem would it? Haha j/k.

WOL or anything like that? I would say keep searching for more options.

You looking in the bios for stuff? What bios is it using? It seems more like a motherboard problem than the modem. Try a different PCI slot?

This is quite a common and quite amusing problem. You need to go into the BIOS of your system (more than likely by holding delete at startup) and find the option 'wake on modem' or something like that, then just disable that option. That will stop your rig booting up everytime you recieve a call.

    Cheers

often it is called 'wake on ring'. On some mobo you use a jumper to enable/disable it.

Yeah that's it 'Wake on Ring'. Never really used it, I usually prefer to answer the phone myself rather than have my computer do it.;)

I remember this one. Had the same problem about 2 years ago. Spinner beat me to the fix. ;)

A thought... Unplug the phone cord when the computer is turned off. Otherwise check you bios for any similar options like "wake on something"

Is there a wake on PME event? Switch that off as well.
