problems removing "home search assistant", "search extender" and "shopping wizard"

I've been having some problems lately with some programs that automatically downloaded to my computer. I haven't been able to remove them, but I saw a thread from the past where somebody else had the same problem and was able to get some help. I am getting crazy popups associated with these programs, and my "home" option for my internet explorer is blocked with a page that always comes up, "about.blank". I have tried changing it but it always returns. I downloaded hijackthis, adware, and spybot, but i really don't know how to really utilize them to solve my problem. I would greatly appreciated any help that anyone could offer. Thanks so much in advance!

Here is my log from hijackthis:

Thanks for the help thus far! I did what you said, but i noticed that when i did another scan that some of the items that were "fixed or deleted" still remained. While reading on the website earlier, I noticed where someone mentioned rebooting into safe mode before making changes. Should I be doing that? I really don't know much of anything about this type of stuff, and I really appreciate your help. Here is the next log:

Safe Mode is usually better for infections that have active processes which prevent themselves from being shut down, but in your case there is a different approach needed. What Primesuspect did was clean out a few other things, leaving you with just the HSA problem. Notice the file names that changed: everything that was

    res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\movpn.dll/sp.html#37794

    is now

    res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\cufdv.dll/sp.html#37794

Those R0 & R1 entries and the assocaited file, along with this one:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3FC6766B-1971-121F-63D0-CE5C593B0933} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysfj32.dll

Are the files you need to be aware of. Your next step is to follow our Home Search Assistant Removal Guide to get rid of the HSA problem.

Follow the guide, using those entries as your reference. Post back here later to tell us how it worked out.

I just followed the online guide that I was referred to for removing home search assistant, and found and quarantined two files that fit the criteria, but I still have the problem. Whenver I launch Internet Explorer about:blank comes up as my homepage, and I can't change it to where it stays as something else. Here is my hijackthis log:

Thanks to everyone for the help! I am still having problems. I have continued using Hijackthis to seek out and find the infected files, but it seems like there is an unending quantity. I have all the ones found thus far quarantined, but I am still getting "about:blank" as my homepage. Here is my log.

well, on second thought, the problem might be gone, or at least going away. I am now able to change my internet home to whatever I so choose. Although i am getting popups still, that might just be normal. Any advice? Thanks for helping me through this mess!

    Get rid of:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LDM] C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\backWeb-8876480.exe

    O4 - Global Startup: RealDownload.lnk = C:\Program Files\Real\RealDownload\Realdownload.exe

    O14 - IERESET.INF: SearchAssistant=

I would read the article in my sig if I were you. Switch to a different browser. IE sucks and will just get you infected again. Use FireFox.

Reboot when you are done with those, and then post once more to tell us if the problems are gone.

Please reinstall HJT. Some people's 1.98.2 versions put tons of line breaks in the log, making it harder to read.
