Laptop Audio problem

I have a laptop that is put together of parts that I don't really know the bran names of. Useing Aida32 I figured out that my soundcard _should_ be a Realtek AC'97 However, this seems to be impossible since my other computer has the same card and has excelent sound, where as the laptop has horrible sound. Now this is not only the speakers, because with headphones and even a proper speaker system plugged in, the sound is naff. In Linux the sound comes out great, so I'm leed to belive that it's something wrong with the drivers perhaps, because if it is capable of good sound and it's not the speakers then drivers is all that I'm left with. Any one have any ideas?

have you tryed new drivers

:o I couldn't find the new ones before, yay! My sound dosn't sound like it's coming out of cardboard speakers!
