I want to over clock...

hey i dont really know to much over clocking except that u can screw u computer up if u do it to much. anyway i want to overclock my computer but i rememebering hereing somewhere that if u have a dell that u cant do it. is that true? and if it is is there anyway around it? thanks

    Can't overclock if you bought your computer from any manufacturer like Compaq, HP, Dell, whatever. The only way around that is a new motherboard, and i think that would require a new case too.

    And probably a new power supply ... unless, if you're lucky and daring you can maybe flash the bios, if it's not a proprietary board. Am I right or wrong on that? It was just an idea, so I have no idea if it has any merit...

    You have to build your own out of parts to be able to overclock it. Getting a new motherboard for your dell means getting a new power supply, and a new case, which basically makes it "not a dell" anymore. And if you're going to do all that, you've already built a new computer.
