nForce2 C0/C1/C2 Cooling Patch

edited September 2004 in Science & Tech
New Generation Order has released an nForce2 patch that allows nForce2 based motherboards to run cooler.
This patch will allow nForce2 chipset based motherboards to use C0/C1/C2 advanced cooling mode instead of the basic S1 and reduce idle temperatures by 5-10c degrees! Supports only Windows XP/2000! Unlike other utilities this is only a device driver (less ram usage) and since nForce2 has BIOS programmed S1 bus disconnection. Other cooling utilities (using S1 mode) are useless with the nForce2 chipset! Use it by your own risk.

Wait - idle temps on what, the chipset?

Can somebody who is smarter than me please explain how this works?

I'm not so sure of that. Then again i don't know him so i shouldn't say anything. :D

Does this app work for people using fancontrollers as well or what. THRAX HELP US. :D Or Geeky1. :grr:

I think it will disconnect the processor from clock when idle. MSI boards have already this feature

It was a pot shot I couldn't resist ...I might delete the comment before he has a chance to see it though. LOL He's know's I'm only joking.

Anyway ...I have fan controllers and yes it works with fan controllers.
I imagine it turns off something that is normally running for no reason when idle ...that's my guess.

Did you use the bat file that came with it?
I installed in on two machines so far ...all I did was double click on the batch file and it install ok.

Also ....be sure you have a nForce2 chipset based motherboard before trying this.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was just trying to run the BAT file from within winrar. I extracted all the files to a folder and ran it again and no problems :) Thanks

    of course!

idle cooling tweaks such as this have not been uncommon and go all the way back as far as the KA7 and Kt7a days which were all via chipsets. nForce2 are newer and it was just a matter of time before someone uncovered a trick such as this. There was an earlier tweak but it messed up the soundstorm audio usually. That's why I waited til something like this to come along.

    enjoy!
