Hello everyone,

I made sure spybot and adaware were most recent builds and updated before running, ran omegakiller and an anti virus scan that turned up no viruses. This is my hijack this log file.

    Hello again,
    I knew I forgot something...

IE's homepage is changed to search2.com and if you change the default home page a small search window shows up on the bottom of the desktop. There is also a toolbar in IE with tabs(business, travel, search...etc) and varius popups. Spybot finds CoolWWWSearchSmallM and Lop2. Omega killer ends a process and deletes some entries after 4 passes. Here is an updated HJT.

    Hello.

    Get rid of the following:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)

but honestly your log looks clean. I do have two questions:

    1) What is fiberlink? Is that something you installed?

    2) What is ResumeGrabber? Did you install that?
  • edited September 2004
    Hello,

I got rid of the 3 items you mentioned and ran spybot again and it found something that it missed before. I rebooted and everything seems fine now.

Fiberlink and Resumegrabber are 2 things we've used for a while.

    If anyone is curious.
    http://www.fiberlink.com/ For remote access
    http://www.egrabber.com/resumegrabber/ Resume database

You people do a good thing here, thank you very much.

I spoke too soon. It came back exactly as before. Ran through entire process and everything was exactly the same, spybot, adaware, omega killer and hjt log except,
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
    and
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
were not in the hjt log.
She was running outlook, windows explorer, excell and yahoo messenger with streaming music. I disabled yahoo messenger before rebooting to eliminate the streaming music. I'll let you know. Or anything else needed, let me know.

    Thanks again,
    Maximus

Download and run OmegaKiller SM1.2 from our security downloads page.

Reboot after that and post a new log.

    Hello,

I apologize for this curveball and taking up your time with this and my inability to fully cooperate. Whether you say the system is clean or not, you can close this thread if you like.

I can't access this machine to freely anymore, not that I could before, so during a lunch break yesterday I ran omegakiller, deleted the folders:
    C:\PROGRA~1\TRANSB~1\Comp Hide.exe
    [ItchEnc] C:\PROGRA~1\TITLER~1\Antewmaaim.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CORNCOOLONLINEOPTION\WindowPure.exe

Had HJT remove the entries that were left:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ItchEnc] C:\PROGRA~1\TITLER~1\Antewmaaim.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Online Option 4 Style] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CORNCOOLONLINEOPTION\WindowPure.exe

ran spybot, adaware, reboot and ran hjt To make sure entries were gone.

I called her this afternoon, she said everything has been fine. Scheduled virus scan found nothing. I had her run omegakiller, it found nothing on the first pass, spybot and adaware found just a few tracking cookies.

That looks clean :) Glad we could help you.

Please read our article on Defeating Spyware for tips on how to improve your Internet Explorer security, or to learn how to switch to a different browser. For more general information about spyware read this page.

If you are running Windows XP, and have not yet upgraded to Service Pack 2, please do so, especially if you plan to stay on Internet Explorer. SP2 introduces some security features to help protect you from unwanted downloads in Internet Explorer. Upgrade to XP Service Pack 2 here, courtesy of Short-Media's downloads section.

Finally, if you have not already done so, please take the time to find out more about Folding For a Cure, a good cause by which your computer uses it's spare power to help search for cures to diseases. We would love to have you on our Team.

    Dexter...
