Help please,

A friend at work is having a problems with a new 120g hard drive. Its detected in bios but not in Win 98. Is there a max hard drive limit in Win 98 that or something? He's done detect new hardware etc but still no drive. Or does he have to format first via the ms dos startup disc?

Its been so long since I used win 98 I cant remember.

Cheers

I wish I could help you Jim, but it's been quite a while for me to mess with Win98 also. I will be paying attention though as I'm upgrading a neighbor's Compuke machine to something halfway decent, but I will stick with their Win98 for now, since they don't have the money to upgrade that to XP right now.

Ok panic over I think. Told him to download the maxblast 3 software as that says it get round all drive size limitations & makes hard drive detection & partioning a doddle. We'll see....

Apparently Maxblast 3 does exactly what it say on the tin. :)

Really, though. That shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. 98 should be able to handle that drive size, so the p[roblem probably lay elsewhere...

But, since that proggy fixed it, I guess it doesn't matter anymore, ya?
