DVD player.

Since I swapped out one of my drives yesterday my DVD player won't play DVDs. The drive works fine as a CD but if I put a DVD in and try to play it in media player it tells me it can't because a 'compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer'. The one I had came with the drive but the disc is nowhere to be found. Anybody know of a freebie to download?

    Erm, just tried it but it doesn't do what I wanted. It seems to be a DVD player. What I 'think' I want is a DVD decoder so I can play DVDs in media player.

    The dvd player will install the codecs I think, just like say windvd does. Other than that try kazaa lite codec pack or something similar

    It doesn't integrate into WMP 9 then, hmmmm...not good. I know Power DVD will do that but unfortunately that costs money.

    You merely need any MPEG2 codec to enable Windows Media Player's capability of playing DVD content.

    Elecard's MPEG2 codec is popular, and I use that when I don't install PowerDVD or WinDVD.

    Thanks all for the help.
    madmat has got me into msm now as well. He gave me a fix that is superb, I'm off work now for a week and everything in the garden is rosy. Thanks again mate. :)

    Go into your user CP and it's in your info there somewhere, I'm glad that it's all working now. :)
    EDIT; It's under Edit Profile in User CP.
