Get some CD's or DVD's fast.. or another hard drive you can stick on an IDE connector or something. DON'T DELAY. Do it now.
That's your controller telling you that one of your hard drives is in trouble and about to fail
Sorry but get some form of backup running ASAP!

this is a new computer i put together yesterday,1 drive is a maxtor and the other is wdc,is the problem because of 2 diff hardrives?or do i need to partition them?

When using raid you should use 2 drives of the same make and size. You should never mix drives.
