ok..

so here in the office we use volume licensing cd's / corp editions. I took the xp pro cd, and slip streamed sp2 into it then took win iso and created an iso image of it, but I can boot from the burned cd. I used xpboot.bin from neowin's site to make it bootable. Ive used it before with a sp2 retail version slipstream, ive also made a regular xppro corp pre sp1 cd with this file...

Here is my question..

Do I need to slipstream sp1a first then 2 cuz for the life of me I cant get sp2 slipstream to be bootable. Everything else about the cd works but its just not bootable.

anyone have any thoughts??? all the version are legit nothing downloaded, all keys are legit part of are MSDN agreement and vol lic. agreement..

You still have the ISO somewhere of the bootable XP of any sort? Use ultra iso or one of the iso progs and delete i386 and the single files in the root that relate to the service pack and copy the sp2 ones in (its like i386 dri and win51p.sp2 or something) . You don't want sp1 at all. You want to slipstream sp2 onto a pure xp cd. Are you using the standard update utility? It worked great for me and I have like 5 differant xp/sp2 cd's and dvd's with differant specific drivers for differnant chipsets/MB's. Do a answer file for a unattended one. I swear if you do it once you will hate doing regular XP installs ever again.

Tex is right. You do not need to slipstream SP1 or SP1A first.

If the cd you have came with SP1A already incorporated then you need to do nothing, but the regular slipstream process as if it didn't have the SP on it already.

I have done all versions and done a full clean install from them. They all show a perfect SP2 fully up to date when done this way.

SP1A is included in the SP2 update.

Oh ive done it with xp retail.. but for some reason the slipstream into xp corp pure cd does not want to let me boot.

I used the -s:directory flag for the sp2 network update.

I have the win51p.sp2 in the root, along with 2 others that look simular to it...

I used the procedure from this link and extracted the boot image from the Corp CD itself and then used Nero to burn it just like the procedure. It worked twice for me on Corporate.

    Hope it helps

Ok.. got it working thanks for the help all... it seems that I had a setting wrong in nero.
The number of load sectors in nero was set to 1 and it needed to be 4. Once I changed that all was good...

    Thanks....

Question? On that slipstreaming guide it shows how to add the downloaded version of sp2 into the XP files. How would I do it if I had the SP2 cd instead? I've got dial-up since moving into the country so downloading was not an option.

You just extract the files. Right click on the .exe
