help to kill CWS - JRAUSCH2213

I think I might have the CWS trojan and any help would be greatly appreciated...
I'm having a problem with my start page on internet explorer, but netscape seems to be working fine. Also, everytime I run Norton... it finds 13 threats and fails in deleting all of them. I run AdAware and it says the system must shut down everytime. I d/led HiJackThis and I will post the log on here... If anyone knows if it is the CWS trojan that I have, and which files to delete... I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.

I deleted the files above, but I still seem to be having the same problems... Norton now found 14 at risk files, internet explorer doesn't work, adaware, etc... any ideas would be of great appreciation... Thanks a lot for your help

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ares] "C:\Program Files\Ares\Ares.exe" -h

Fix those entries then find and delete the folder that starts with NEWDOT and Ares in C:\Program Files\. Then reboot and post a new log.

It is much safer to uninstall it from add/remove programs:

Please download LSP-Fix from the following link and save it to a location you can find later if necessary.

    LSP-Fix Download Link

To remove New.net. please go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, look for and remove New.Net. If you can't find it, then please go here and follow the removal instructions in Procedure 4 at the bottom of the page.

I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2.DLL,NewDotNetStartup -s

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

    C:\PROGRAM FILES\NEWDOTNET\

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

If you can not connect to the Internet after removing New.net, please run the LSP-Fix program I had you download earlier, and click on the finish button. Reboot and you should be able to get back on.

You're welcome :) Be sure to check out the links in my sig - especially the spyware article and the folding team. We would love to have you join our community.

Also, I highly recommend switching to FireFox - you will not have any more spyware problems if you do
