does anyone know of a webhost where the transfer limit is a lot, i know you have to pay for the extra bandwidth so maybe i should rephrase...a reliable webhost where the cost for extra bandwidth is not too expensive. I'm doing a website for my church and people are going to be downloading the sermons, pdf's, other notes, and maybe some music that we do. The sermon sizes are between 11mb-20mb. don't know how much bandwidth i'll need, maybe some of you can give me some insight on how much i should do in the beginning. and if i go over what happens? do they charge extra or shut the site down? thanks for the help guys

I believe Sarcnet is a good webhost, they host this site, and mine. I like it, friends tell me the speeds they get from downloading my stuff are crazy. I generally get 350KBps download ;)

Yep, we offer a generous amount of transfer - 320gb a month for the basic package.

PM me, and we'll talk :)

    (We host this site!)

Sarcnet, GoDaddy, 1And1. All three have a lot of default bandwith limits. Only advantage GoDaddy has is they are also a DIRECT registrar. My sites are hosted by Sarcnet and will be so hosted for a long time. My registration is through GoDaddy and if they had upped thier limits for monthly flow and area size to what they have now I might not have switched from them (and I told them that in fact those two things were EXACTLY why I was no longer hosting my sites with them). BUT, I am very happy with Brian's company, Sarcnet, also. And it costs less to call him on his cell phone than to call Goddaddy as a toll call to California, and he fixes things faster-- often while I am talking to him things get fixed. Overall, if you are in the US or Canada, I would host with Sarcnet and not have any qualms about it. Sarcnet's em,ail server is also one of the least likely to give me spam from site email of any host I have been with (4 so far not counting free site areas on four free host places that stunk at that among other things)

Until the datacenter fire the other day (which caused only 20 minutes downtime - the first in our history at the datacenter) - we had 234 days of uptime on our mail servers. The 234 would have been longer, but we took it down then for a memory upgrade :(

You should know that we have absolutely nothing to do with spam. If your email address has been spidered by a search engine, or something of that nature, there's nothing we can do about that. That same thing goes for any email host. We simply provide the mechanism for a client to receive mail, and can't control the content of what goes over it.

Spam filtering at the gateway is something we do NOT do because of the potential for false positives. We won't be responsible for someone not getting a legit email because it got marked by a spam filter at the gateway. There is no such thing as a 100% accurate spam filter.

Spam filtering is the responbility of the customer. Trin, this is not directed at you, I just want any potential customers to know our stance on this issue :)
