Best mid-size tower case?

My full size case is beat up, and I want to get a new case. I don't need a full size case though. Mid size would be enough and easier to move around.

What is the best mid size case I should get?

Also - best heatsink for Athlon XP 2500? Thanks.

My black Chieftec is reallllll purdy with the Ultra (that's a brand name) gloss mod :) Then again, half the computer geek population also seems to think so, as the cases are fairly common... >_<

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?keywords=ultra%2Bglossy&image1.x=5&image1.y=8 :)

One thing - Mine is black and it looks like it's out of stock right now. Your call. Another thing - as you probably know, TigerDirect is a BITCH with shipping, so if you could find it somewhere else, might be better. I got mine with the a 500-watt (very stable railled!) Ultra powersupply for like $10 more than the case itself is. So if you want you could wait for the deal again...

Or if not wanting to wait for the TigerDirect deal, look at Just PC's site (they also make and import cases) and some of the Antec 6-8 bay cases (maybe a smaller Performance series, Lanboy, or Sonata, look on Pricewatch.com for that kind of thing if money is an object and buy a bare case then a seperate power supply or use yours if yours is good enough) and possibly Chieftec's site for other distributors (I do not know current URL, old one I have no longer works, you might Google the Chieftec name and see what comes up and surf for deals as Cheiftec does make decent to very good cases adn many OEM's of gamer box kind have used them and have sold them off to gray market for the smaller ones that are maybe last years model but still decent (thus a http://www.pricewatch.com/ search might also be in order with mfr of Chieftec as first search sort and possibly later also Antec as they DO make smaller cases also). TigerDirect is part of SystemMax also, as is Dartek, and each SystemMax Division site can have seperate inventory and deals showing--Dartek had some ChiefTec cases also, last I looked and in last catalog I got from them ( http://www.dartek.com ). I regularly Go to ALL of SystemMax, DarTek, and TigerDirect if looking for something that any one of them had fairly recently.

I know PCToyland and SVC have some cases also that look decent (ThermoTakes among them), and Just PC USA mfr's some black mid-towers and some silver-look towers-- I will tell you I have not used those yet, am gonna bring in a few samples in next few months, will let you all know what I think versus Chieftec and Antec. I do know that Just PC uses Channel Well Technology PSUs in its Case-plus-PSU bundles, though-- and those are quite decent (not really BEST OF CLASS, mid-grade to high mid-grade I would say they are, though).

TigerDirect is also starting to carry an assortment of Just PC cases. The WEST COAST distrib site for Just PC stuff is Multi Media eDirect, INC. Site is http://www.multimediaedirect.com/ THEY WILL ship nationwide quite happily, and I get lower shipping out of them than Tiger for heavy things as they have a bulk (try they deliver PREPACKED truckloads to) Fedex if you let them ship Fedex ground or Air depending on your hurry. Some of those truckloads I THINK go to Tiger Direct's warehouses in Chicago, Miami area, and to Dartek even. Tiger has a NON-exclusive distributorship deal with Just PC.

"Best" is totally a matter of preference and opinion. I prefer lian li because they are best for me. How much do you want to spend?

Agreed, preference rules over ALMOST all things for cases-- I like 1 Mil Steel (galvanized, baked enamel coating) or 1-2 Mil Aluminum with ROLLED edges on every surface (gotten cut or avulsed on (skin layers shaved off small areas of hands and fingers) on so many cheap cases with non-rolled edges it is not funny, so safe construction detailling as well as electrical bonding methods used and some rigidity present so screws do not work loose too fast due to holes with stripped threads and thus the need for sheet metal screws to hold the thing tightly together after a couple to a few years is one of my construction criteria sets for minimum features included in a case design and mfr). I thought this might be a more economy minded user, that is why I posted as I did-- also, I know the mfr's I mentioned have good solid construction methods. Lian Li is one of the very top line mfr's, agreed. But they tend to be pricy and thier cases are surprisingly price stable (old ones are STILL pricy often). <GRIN>
