Is it too early to go PCI Express?

I am thinking about upgrading but, I'm not sure if it is too early to hop on the PCi Express bandwagon. Should I wait? If not, what would be the best board? Is there an NF7-S of the PCI Express? I keep seeing all these new graphics cards and think to myself, AGP could never do all that. What to do?

The only way present to go with pci-express is with an lga775 board using a presshot proc. Don't even look for a new AMD board with pci -express until around the new year, last I read. Plus, it presently has hardly any advantage over agp 8x so far and high end pci-express cards are still very hard to find and expensive too.

I agree with muddocktor. The price/availability/performance advantage is far from appealing at this time.

is still cheesed AGP 8X makes no speed increase from 4X, yet they're still pushing PCIE as if it would really make things any faster with even the next gen stuff.

The benefit of PCI-E isn't really in the video card arena, sadly. But, for those of you with GbE and 10GoE, and massive SCSI RAID controllers.. PCIE is rather nice.
