Adware Vx2...[resolved]
Hello, I need your help. I recently had major problems with xadsq (OfferOptimizer).
Well I was fighting it with the tools I have picked up along the way... with little results.
Well, now xadsq seems to be gone... (not showed up in the past 4-5 days) along with the OfferOptimizer PopUps.
Now I have VX2 !!
Granted I have no pop-ups, but I know I dont want VX2 even tho it is being very passive at the moment.
I have run adawares VX2 cleaning tool. But I am not sure it is doing anything.
Last scan I had only one trace of VX2.
having said all this... please look at my HJT Log to see what is going on.
Thank You,
Chad

VX2 is the official spyware name for xadso. So really you just still have some traces of xadso on your computer still. No new spyware.
Before doing the following, please Set your computer to show hidden files and folders, Disable System Restore, and Reboot in Safe Mode.
Once you have done that, Run HijackThis and have it fix the following:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00320615-B6C2-40A6-8F99-F1C52D674FAD} - (no file)
O16 - DPF: {4A3CF76B-EC7A-405D-A67D-8DC6B52AB35B} -
O16 - DPF: {EB387D2F-E27B-4D36-979E-847D1036C65D} -
O16 - DPF: {EEECA057-AD0F-44A7-8BE5-8634CEDBDBD1} -
Then find and locate the files listed above and Quarentine Them.
Once you have done that, reboot, scan with HijackThis again, and post a new log.
Tell me what to do to find these files, so they can be quarantined.
here is my newest log

Do you use pervasive SQL database server? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then also delete this entry:
O4 - Global Startup: Pervasive.SQL Workgroup Engine.lnk = C:\PVSW\Bin\W3DBSMGR.EXE
reboot, and post a new log.
And yes PervasiveSQL is the database for the Radioshack POS software.
here is my log....

oh god i crack myself up..
anyways...
When you remove them in HJT do you get a warning from TeaTimer (The Spybot S&D registry-change prevention thing)?
Perhaps those DPFs are from a radio shack function? Maybe Pervasive needs them to work....I can't imagine how, but something is reinstalling them every time you boot. Are your actual hijack problems gone?
wonder how many people really got that one.... lol
ok, yes i get a warning from SpyBot when deleting the DPF files.
and my browser seems to be free atm, since yesterday not one redirection and no pop-ups.
so what about the BHO file?.... no warnings on that one.
I still get one VX2 object when i scan with adaware, after every reboot.
Perhaps we defanged it?
I'll have to give you my newest scan log tomorrow sorry.
Thanks for the great advice and assistance!!!
