Game pads again.

I'm getting sick of this. I use a Saitek p3000 game pad, the chargers and batteries are always a gamble. I just got a Logitech Dual action pad for the kids. After hours of piggin around with it, taking it back for an exchange and three phone calls to Logitech, I got it working, long story but it was Logitechs problem. I mean how hard can it be? I just want a pad that's really just an extention of the keyboard. One where I can say I want that button to simulate that key. The 'help' file that came with the Logitech contains more information than came with my NF7s and the bit I needed isn't even in there or in the pads software, it's in gamepad controllers, Arrgghhhh!
Will somebody design and build me the pad I want or recommend one, Please?

end rant.

FWIW, I have the Logitec Wingman Rumblepad and except for some minor but irritating bugs with the joystick thingies, it's pretty good. You can assign keys with profiler program it comes with.

Daft question but can you turn the rumble off?
The problem I had with the dual action was that the left joystick and D button were swapped over. Any changes you made to the Dpad would not work, they were applied to the left joystick instead. I thought it was faulty so returned it and got another, just the same. The guy from Logitech (who didn't understand) eventually told me to uninstall the supplied software and download the new one which has an option to swap them back. The help file that came with the new software is huge and I could find no mention of swapping the controls back. I phoned Logitech again. He said "well do you want to hang on while I read it and find it for you" I said yes, why can't somebody just tell me where this stupid option is, I'd looked at every option in the software and all through the help file. He gave up and said he'd ring me back, which he did. It's in game controllers, properties, settings. Just one option in there, swap the left jstick and Dpad! Why are they reversed by default? Why isn't the option in the software? Are they stupid? A very frustrating morning.

Doesn't the actual gamepad have a button to disable rumble? If not:

I can recommend Steelpad S&S, I'm using one now! It looks cool, is solid and has briliant gliding.
