Windows STOP Error Screens After Memory Upgrade
Computer: Dell Dimension
CPU Type: Original OEM Processor
OS: Windows XP: Home Edition
Howdy,
My name is Michael. Thank you in advance for your kind help. I've been experiencing problems with Windows shutting down unexpectedly. I receive blue “Stop” error screens. The latest of which reads:
KERNEL_APC_PENDING_DURING_EXIT
STOP: 0x00000000 (0x82cd8456, 0xFFFFFFFE, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Let me back up by saying I’ve recently installed new memory; 2 Centon brand 256 MB PC2700 modules. The Dell Dimension Manual as well as the MicroCenter rep recommended PC2700 (DDR333) or PC3200, which I believe to be backwards compatible with PC2700. On top of my original 256 MB, this adds to a total of 768 MB. When I view the Properties for My Computer I can see that Windows has registered the upgrade.
Allow me to back up even further by saying; previous to installing these Centon modules, I installed 2 Simple Tech brand PC3200 modules. The computer also registered this upgrade but after receiving Stop Error after Stop Error, I decided to try new memory.
Errors I experienced with Simple Tech:
BAD_POOL_CALLER
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
Since I installed the new Centons I’ve only experienced the one “KERNEL_APC_PENDING_DURING_EXIT” Stop Error I described above.
Let me say that I have not changed any BIOS settings.
I’m at a loss of what to do. I don't know for sure this is a memory upgrade issue though it seems to fit the bill. I've also experienced adware issues which I have recently resolved. If I can provide any further details that might help you diagnose this problem please let me know. Please help me solve this problem. Thanks again. I appreciate the help Short Media provides.

Download the latest floppy builder, and then boot off the floppy to test your memory.
Chances are it's not the memory, but the fact that you are mixing and matching speeds and brands. If you take the old stick out and just leave the two new ones in there, does it still crash?
I did download the MemTest86 v1.26 as an .ISO. Burnt it to CD-R and ran it from the boot menu screen in my system BIOS. I left the test running for 4 hours and 41 minutes. Should I have left it running longer? How long does it usually take? Anyways, I included a screen shot in JPEG format that I took with my digital camera before I closed the program out.
To answer your question, I haven't experienced any crashes or STOP error screens while running only the original 256 MB. As for running the 2 new chips without the old ones, I did experience a crash when running only the two SimpleTech chips.
I did kind of blow through the MemTest without fully understanding what I was testing and how I can analysis the results. So if need be and the screen shot is not sufficient I'll go back and read through all the documentation that goes along with the MemTest program.
Thanks so much again for your help. Unfortunately this problem doesn't seem very straigh forward.

Also, as soon as I rebooted up after the crash, I received a message that sound "Windows has recovered from a Serious Error" and reffererd me to the page below:
