Hi, today I started getting a warning from Avast (my anitvirus program) that it had found a virus. It names a file in the System Volume Information folder. I know that folder is for the System Restore function. I tell Avast to delete the file but the warning box will come up again. Any thoughts? Ever heard of a virus infecting that folder?

Yeah, if you used to have a virus, and it is gone now, it may have gotten written into a restore point.

I would dump all restore points to get rid of it.

    Is this XP or ME?

Thanks, Prime. I'm running XP Home. Not sure how to dump restore points.

Right click on my computer. Click properties. Go to system restore tab. Click "turn system restore off"

    Apply, close, reboot.

Go back in and turn it on when you reboot, and all restore points will have been dumped.
