I like the orientation of those IDE ports.

This is just even more proof that Abit will never create another Nforce based mainboard again. I can't for the life understand why releasing an old mainboard. Maybe VIA forced them to release this? I know, Socket A isn't dead, but this is stupid. Or am i missing something?

Athlon XPs outsell Athlon 64s 10 - 1. We enthusiasts sometimes have a myopic view of the computer market.

    Hi Mac,

This board was schedule for release last year under the name KV7-II but was delayed due to chipset problems.

As for NF based boards: http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19290

And then we will have the AN8 Fatal1ty with NF4 Ultra. I will keep you guys posted as soon as the NF8 goes into mass-production. :)

    I see :)

On the other hand, that Abit thread was created in June, and a couple of months later, there's still no more information on when or if the NF3 based board will hit retail.
As usual, i am probably wrong though. Abit is usually one of the first manufacturers that releases boards on new chipsets these days and after their argument with Nvidia a while back, no NFX based boards have been developed. The AN7 came out about the same time as the argue where on if i remember correctly.

Apart from 4 dimm slots and a passive NB, why would we choose this board instead of the NF7?

In my personal experience the VIA boards are more tolerant of NVidia to ATI (and vice versa) switches than Nvidia chipset boards are.

Abit should've put a GigE controller on the board instead of a 10/100 though.

I wasn't defending nor recommending this board, I was just giving you some info about it. Personally, I hate VIA and I think they're crap so I wouldn't buy this board over the NF7.

Regarding NF3 based boards: I don't think we'll ever see one and that's why I asked AB if they were playing hide and seek. Earlier he said they were gonna release one, then he said they cancelled the project and now he says is still in his roadmap so I don't know what to believe anymore.

Anyway..., at this point the NF4 based AN8 Fatal1ty & AN8-MAX are the ones I'm looking forward to.

    Cheers!
