Via Brings PCI Express To AMD-Based Computers
Via Technologies, a company that sells chipsets that connect central processors to the rest of a computer, announced a new product Friday that brings PCI Express input-output technology to computers running Advanced Micro Devices chips.

PCI Express has begun replacing the older PCI technology; newer chipsets from Intel support the new connection technology, though there was one glitch using PCI Express on servers. Via's K8T890 supports AMD's Athlon 64, Opteron and Sempron processors.
